Exciting battle awaits in the last WPT competition - who gets the ticket to the Master Final?
There is only one more WPT tournament to go before the prestigious Master Final. Veronica Virseda is only 45 points away from a ticket to the competition.
Here's how she can secure her place in the tournament.
December will see the last WPT competition in history or at least the last tournament with the Damms concept. Premier Padel will take over the world tour next year after the takeover announced in August.
The last event will be the Master Final in Barcelona. During this year's competitions, players collect points for the WPT race and then try to qualify for the prestigious event. The top 16 players with the most ranking points from 2023 will earn a spot in the competition.
Only the World Padel Tour competition in Mexico remains before the tickets are distributed for the Master Final. In the men's class, it is almost clear unless something incredibly unexpected happens. But in the women's class, the battle is very much alive.
Going into the final race, the Alayeto twins have the last two places in the race but Veronica Virseda is only 45 points away from a ticket to the competition.
This means that if Verónica Virseda and Claudia Jensen make it further in the competition than the Alayeto twins, Virseda will get a place in the Master Final.
Could have to choose a player
In this case, there would be a special situation where the twins have equal points but only get one place. In this situation, Lucia Sainz, who also has no partner, may have to choose between the twins.
It is worth noting that the Master Final will be "Mapi" Alayeto and "Majo" Alayeto's last competition as the twins will be ending their professional careers after the season.
