Alejandra Salazar and Sofia Araujo knock out the world number ones

Paula Josemaría and Ari Sánchez have been eliminated from the WPT tournament in Malmö. The world number ones lost in straight sets to Alejandra Salazar and Sofia Araujo in the semi-finals.

During the afternoon, several semi-finals have been decided in Malmö. World number one Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría played against Alejandra Salazar and Sofia Araujo.

The match was an interesting battle where Josemaría/Sánchez had a hard time on the court while Salazar/Araujo showed a great game. This resulted in the Spanish-Portuguese duo winning the match in two sets.

The result was written: 6-2, 6-2.

— We played really, really well. Alejandra told me that today was our day and it was, so we are very happy," Araujo told Viaplay after the match.

Salazar continues:

— It's great for me to be back as competitive as I want to be. With my forehand on fire, I gave a lot of points to the team. Sofia defends perfectly. It was almost a perfect match. We have the best feelings here in Malmö so hopefully, we can repeat this performance tomorrow.

Tomorrow they will play the final against Beatriz González and Delfina Brea who defeated Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay earlier today.
