The Spanish-Brazilian duo have shown some impressive performances and are now through to the semi-finals in Malmö. This is the first time the pair has reached the semi-finals this season.

Lucas Bergamini and Victor Ruiz stood for a huge achievement earlier this autumn when the team defeated the season's giants, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia. A performance few have achieved this season.

The Spanish-Brazilian team continues to impress in Malmö. Because it is not often that two players outside the top 30 qualify for the semi-finals in the World Padel Tour. But Lucas Bergamini (39) and Victor Ruiz (35) have done that today.

The duo strongly started the competition and defeated Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto 6-3 in the third set.

Won in straight sets

Today the pair played the quarterfinals against Juanlu Esbri (31) and Lucas Campagnolo (23).

Bergamini and Ruiz started the match very strongly and won an early break. The pair showed skilful play on the court and great confidence. This resulted in them winning the first set 6-3.

The second set was also an exciting battle on the centre court in Malmö. Bergamini and Ruiz managed to win a break at 3-2 and had two match points later in the match, but Esbri and Campagnolo equalised the score to 5-5.

Lucas Bergamini and Victor Ruiz then won two straight games and secured their ticket to the semifinals with a score of 6-3, 7-5.

- "To win a match in the quarter-finals, we have to play perfectly. Today we played a good match", says Lucas Bergamini to Viaplay after the match.

Tomorrow the pair will play the semifinal against the match winner between González/Garrido and Stupaczuk/Di Nenno.
