Ari Sánchez after securing first place: "A girl's dream has come true today"
Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sánchez won another title last Sunday.
The pair secured the top spot in the WPT rankings.
Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaria have had a brilliant season. The pair have won title after title and have been the season's best players. Last Sunday, the pair entered the history books once again.
The pair defeated Bea Gonzalez and Delfi Brea in the final of the Amsterdam Padel Open with 7-6, 6-0. Josemaria and Sánchez secured their 13th World Padel Tour title this year, beating Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar's record from last year.
The world number one also secured the top spot in the WPT rankings — a milestone the players have had since the start of their careers.
— I am thrilled. Today, a dream has come true. I have been finishing in second place for four years. Last year was very tough, and I was unfortunate. But in that case, Gemma and Alejandra were better, but I knew that this defeat would make us much stronger individually and as a couple. However, I never thought we would have a year like the one we have now. I think we are doing something spectacular that we are not even aware of, said Ari Sánchez on the WPT broadcast.
Ari Sánchez also took the opportunity to encourage everyone to believe in their dreams:
— Above all, I want to say to all the boys and girls who are probably watching us that if they have a dream, they should follow it. Work hard and know that there are difficult moments and everything will not be easy, but that dreams often come true. A girl's dream has come true today, so I am very happy.
The World Padel Tour is back at the end of October in Menorca.
