Coki Nieto on the success with Sanz and the separation from Lima

ANNONS

Coki Nieto has had an intense season with both highs and lows. The player talks about the spring with Pablo Lima when results were lacking and the success with Jon Sanz.

Coki Nieto had a tough start to the season. He began a partnership with Pablo Lima that didn't turn out as he intended. The duo only played four tournaments together as they were forced to withdraw from La Rioja, Paraguay, Denmark, and Vigo as the Brazilian suffered injury problems.

— I always wanted to play with Lima, but we were at different stages. He has already achieved everything, he has been number one, he has won everything. He also had the injury, and I was not physically well either. But I am very grateful for our shared tournaments," Nieto told LaChiquitaPadel.

Coki Nieto also talks about what a great player Pablo Lima is:

— He is a born competitor. It's incredible because he was playing with an injured knee, and I was surprised that he didn't get passed anywhere without being able to move.

After separating from Lima, Nieto started a new partnership with Jon Sanz. But the pair only managed to play one tournament together as his partner paired up with Ale Galan.

— I understood him perfectly, but I told him that I would start a new project with Cardona and that, depending on how it went, I would continue with him. You never know. But in the end, the results with Cardona didn't work out either, and I decided to return to Jon.

"We are very different"

Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz then reunited and have produced impressive results since the start of their partnership. A few weeks ago, the duo reached the WPT final in Finland.

— Jon is very impulsive and electric. I am much calmer. I try to take advantage of his spark to activate me when I need it, and when he is worse, I try to calm him down a bit and make him realize that he is neither the best when things are going well nor the worst when things are going badly. We are very different, but we complement each other well.

Coki Nieto is closing in on a spot in the WPT final table later this year. He and Fernando Belasteguín are competing for the tournament's last spot.
