Gutiérrez duo impresses — defeated Lebron and Galan

Sanyo Gutierrez and his nephew Agustin Gutierrez put in an impressive performance yesterday. 
The pair defeated Ale Galan and Juan Lebron in a close match. 

Sanyo Gutiérrez recently ended his partnership with Momo Gonzalez and started a partnership with his nephew Agustin Gutierrez.

It was an instant success for the Gutiérrez duo in their first tournament as a regular pair (having previously played Marbella Master). The pair knocked out world number three Juan Lebron and Ale Galan in Madrid yesterday.

The result was 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.

— It's an extraordinary win. We have not only won but also defeated one of the best teams in the world. I don't like to change partners twice in a season. But I was thinking with my heart, and I thought I had to give myself a chance, said Sanyo Gutierrez after the win on the WPT broadcast.

He continues:

— I asked Agustin to play with me, and I have seen him develop as a player. He is a great player who knows me and gives me joy to play. To beat (Lebron and Galan) with one of my family members is very special.

Today, the pair will face Lucho Capra and Maxi Sanchez in the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters.
