Threats against player ahead of Round of 16 in Madrid: ”Break your nose”
Alvaro Cepero has been threatened ahead of the Round of 16 match against Lucho Capra and Maxi Sanchez in Madrid later on Wednesday.
On social media, the player himself has published serious threats, linking it to betting on the matches.
Later on Wednesday, Spain's Alvaro Cepero and Argentina's Alex Chozas will face Lucho Capra and Maxi Sanchez in Round 16 of the World Padel Tour, Madrid Master. The latter are big favorites, but dark headlines have instead overshadowed the match.
Alvaro Cepero himself has gone public with the threats the player received on social media before the match.
He has screenshotted two messages with the following message:
”If tomorrow you are going to hit Lucho and Maxi, I swear I will break your nose and 'cut your throat.'”
The following message comes:
"I can break something else, your legs, for example."
Making the betting visible
Álvaro Cepero wants to highlight the threats that players sometimes receive before their matches, which are often linked to gambling at matches.
"Let people see the betting and what it is leading to..." Cepero writes on social media.
It is currently unclear whether the player has chosen to report the threats to the police.
