Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega win the first title in the history of women's Premier Padel after defeating the best players in the world.

The first women's final of the Premier Padel circuit awaited today. The favourite pairings faced each other in a match marked by passionate duels and a magical atmosphere at the Foro Italico.

Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega defeated the Sanchez Alayeto twins in straight sets yesterday. But today, Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez were on the other side of the net.

At the start of the match, Triay and Ortega showed a slick game and were very composed, which resulted in a quick 5-0 lead. Although the world number ones started a comeback, Triay and Ortega held on to win the first set 6-3.

The second set started evenly matched, the players had to fight for points and both pairings were strong in their service games. At 3-2, Josemaría and Sánchez broke back to take the set 6-3.

Decisive set

A third set would decide the match at the Foro Italico. Both pairings again had to fight for points and the set was characterised by many evenly matched duels. At 2-1, Triay and Ortega won the break and took the lead. But the world number ones came back to level the match (4-4).

The match got better and better with incredible duels. After almost three hours of fighting, Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega finally won their first title as a pairing.

Match result: 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

- I'm very happy, it's wonderful to play here. This final has been a historic victory, first Premier Padel title, first victory as a couple and the first time we beat Josemaría and Sánchez", said Gemma Triay after the victory.

Next week the Madrid P1 Premier Padel will be held in Spain.
