Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Garrido withdraw from Italy Major

ANNONS

The Spanish-Brazilian pair has been forced to abandon the Italy Major due to the injury suffered by Lucas Campagnolo.

Lucas Campagnolo and Javier Garrido had a strong debut on Tuesday at the Premier Padel Major in Rome. The duo managed to overcome the nerves of their debut and emerged victorious in a tough match against the spaniards Goenaga and Hernández, with a score of 7/6 7/5.

However, this afternoon brought bad news from the “Foro Italico” in Rome. The Brazilian player experienced a setback in the injury that kept him out of the WPT Open in Valencia, leading the pair to withdraw from the tournament.

"I don't even know where to begin. I won't be able to be on the court today in Rome. Not next week in Madrid, and not the following week in Málaga. There's no need for me to talk right now... I need to be patient and believe that everything happens for a reason," announced 'Campa' on his social media.

Out of the courts until August

The injury suffered by Campagnolo will cause him to miss the next two tournaments, the Premier Padel in Madrid and the WPT Open in Málaga, meaning the player is not expected to return to the courts until August.

As a result, their opponents this afternoon, Marmolejo and Alex Chozas, advance directly to the quarterfinals of the tournament. The young qualifying pair will face the winners of the match between Tapia/Coello and Bautista/J.M. Diaz on Thursday.
