Playtomic acquires Portuguese competitor — raised millions in latest funding round
The Spanish company Playtomic has acquired Portugal's leading sports booking and club management platform Aircourts, Lda.
The sports booking platform recently raised €56 million in a funding round led by GP Bullhound.
Playtomic has announced the acquisition of its Portuguese counterpart AirCourts, Lda. AirCourt is Portugal's leading club management and sports booking platform. The deal has gone through for an undisclosed sum.
With the deal, the Spanish booking platform hopes to further strengthen the promotion of padel in Europe.
Aircourts was founded in 2015 to provide players with easier access to sports. Over time, it has become the leading sports booking application in Portugal, focusing on tennis and padel, supporting more than 350 clubs.

The AirCourts team, led by Andre Duarte and Pedro Pessanha, will join Playtomic and continue to drive expansion.

With the acquisition of Aircourts, Playtomic claims to have gained 87% of the clubs in Portugal. The Spanish booking company has made a series of acquisitions of racket sports platforms over the past two years,
They recently raised €56 million in a funding round led by GP Bullhound, the London-based investment firm that funded some of Europe's most prominent startups. Playtomic has around 4,800 clubs in 49 countries and more than 1 million monthly active users.
