Alejandra Salazar to undergo surgery

ANNONS

The Spanish star has made the decision to undergo surgery to address a lingering discomfort.

After finishing her participation in the World Padel Tour Master in Marbella, Alejandra Salazar announced that she would need to stay away from the courts for a while due to a discomfort in her right elbow.

This week, the 37-year-old player underwent medical examinations to assess the best way to tackle the issue she has been struggling with for almost two years.

Today, after undergoing the necessary tests and assessing it with her medical team, the player has announced through her social media accounts that she will be operated on next week.

"Now that I have all the information, after undergoing the tests and discussing it with my team, I wanted to personally and closely share my feelings and my current situation with you. Fortunately, I am in the best hands, and next week I will undergo surgery to repair my body and mind," Salazar wrote on her Instagram account, accompanying the post with a video.

Aiming for Malaga Open

Following the operation, the player will have to stay off the courts for a minimum of five weeks, which means that the current world number three will miss at least three tournaments: the French Open, the Valladolid Master, and the Valencia Open. She aims to make her comeback at the Málaga Open, whose main draw starts on Tuesday, July 25.

"I'm really sad to miss the upcoming tournaments. I apologize to the organizers and fans. I promise to work very hard to come back in the best condition," said the Madrid native.

While Salazar recovers, her partner Gemma Triay will share the court with Marta Ortega, making their debut together next week at the World Padel Tour France Open.
