Tamara Icardo and Virginia Riera are the first finalists of the Marbella Master

In an epic match lasting over three hours, Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo secure their spot in the final of the World Padel Tour Marbella Open.

In the first semifinal of the day at the WPT Marbella Open 2023, the Sánchez Alayeto Twins faced the tournament's number six pair, Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo.

The twins entered the match extremely focused. The former world number ones quickly achieved two consecutive breaks on their opponents' serve, taking the first set 6/1, showcasing their superiority.

But Riera and Icardo wouldn't give up. The Spanish-Argentine pair began their comeback by winning the second set 6/4 and then secured their spot in the finals in a thrilling third-set tiebreak, after three hours of battle.

The final result was 1/6 6/4 7/6, allowing Riera and Icardo to reach their first Master final as a pair. 

Tomorrow, they will face the winners of the match between the world number one duo, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, and Marta Ortega and Sofía Araujo.
