Carolina Orsi has left her stamp on the history of the World Padel Tour after becoming the first Italian player to reach the quarterfinals of the circuit.

The 32-year-old Carolina Orsi became the first Italian player to reach the quarterfinals of a World Padel Tour tournament today after beating Laia Rodriguez and Ana Fernandez in two sets, along with Patty Llaguno.

After Victoria Iglesias' injury at the Alicante Open, the experienced Spanish player chose Orsi as her partner, and the decision seems to be paying off.

The 'occasional' couple had a tough debut against the former world number one couple, the Sanchez Alayeto twins, whom they managed to beat in a hard-fought three-set match, to then overcome their round of 16 match in a convincing manner, 6/4 6/3.

"I'm very happy to play my first quarter-finals. I hope they won't be my last," said the Roman player.

In the quarterfinals, Orsi and Llaguno will have the difficult task of facing the current world number ones, Paula Josemaría and Ariana Sánchez.
