Sanchez and Josemaria turn around and won the marathon game

ANNONS

Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez are the champions of the Brussels Open after a long match. After three hours, they emerged victorious against rivals Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar.

There is no question about it. The two best teams in the world are Paula Josemaria/Ari Sanchez and Gemma Triay/Ale Salazar. This was the 23rd time the teams met in the final, which is a record.

As in Granada, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria were the best team and took the title after three hours of play in the slow conditions of Brussels.

It was a match characterized by many breaks, and an undulating first set was decided in a tiebreak where Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar were the strongest. But Sanchez and Josemaria fought back and won the next two sets 6-3, 7-5.

Third straight

— We work well as a team, which shows on the court. We know what it's like to fight the whole match, said Ari Sanchez in the post-match interview.

The title is the third in a row and extends their position as the world's best team in the world rankings.

— It's been tough three hours. We fought so hard, said Paula Josemaria.

The next WPT 1000 tournament will be played in Vigo. Before that, there is the Alicante 500 Open, in which neither Josemaria/Sanchez nor Triay/Salazar will participate.
