FIP introduces new format for the Cupra FIP Finals 2023

ANNONS

FIP will debut a new format in the 2023 edition of the FIP Tour Finals, which will allow even players who lose a match to have a chance of being crowned champions.

With a total of 110 tournaments scheduled on all continents, the Cupra FIP Tour 2023 will set a record for the number of events organised. But the big novelty this season is the format of the finals, which will allow even players who lose a match to return to the competition and have a chance to win the tournament.

Competition format.

The top eight pairs from the FIP Tour in Europe, the top four pairs from America and South America, and the top two pairs from Asia will advance to the FIP Finals. Two pairs will be added from a Qualifying draw made up of four wild cards - awarded to the American FIP member federations that have shown the most activity during the year - and other pairs classified by ranking to complete the draw (made up of 16 pairs in both the men's and women's draw).

After the first round, the qualified pairs will be divided into two groups. The losing pairs will have a second chance to come into competition and face the other defeated pairs in the qualifying round again. In the meantime, the winning pairs will continue to play with each other, as in the previous edition.

The FIP Finals 2023 will offer prize money of €80,000, split evenly between the men's and women's draw. The winners will receive 150 FIP ranking points, while the runners-up will receive 90 points.
