Young stars knock out Sanchez and Josemaria

The young pair of Jess Castelló and Claudia Jensen surprised again, after knocking out the world number one seeds, Paula Josemaría and Ariana Sánchez.

The news exploded like a bombshell in Santiago de Chile. World number ones Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria were knocked out in the quarter finals of the WPT Chile Open, at the hands of the young promises Claudia Jensen and Jessica Castelló.

The Spaniards started the match erratically, and Jensen and Castelló capitalised to take a 6-3 lead in the first set.

The world number ones came out for the second part more determined, but mistakes at key moments (they only managed to get three breaks out of 11 chances created) once again penalised Sanchez and Josemaria, who saw the match slip away in the second set tiebreak. 

"Paula and Ari had always beaten us, they are the number one in the world. We didn't start in the best way in the second set, but we managed to recover and ended up playing very well" said Jess Castelló after the match.

The final score was 6/3 7/6 in favour of Jensen/Castello, in an hour and fifty minutes of play.

Thus, the young stars got the ticket to their second semifinals of the season, where they will face Lucia Sainz and Aranza Osoro.
