Spanish pair are last minute withdrawals for La Rioja Open
Spain's Miguel Benitez and Mario del Castillo have announced that they will not take part in the WPT La Rioja Open in Argentina due to injury.
A knee injury of the Spanish backhand Miguel Benitez will prevent him from participating in the next WPT Open of Argentina, in the province of La Rioja.
The 26-year-old from Cadiz and his partner Mario Del Castillo, were due to make their tournament debut tomorrow at 11:00h (Local) against Brazilian Lucas Campagnolo and Argentinean Maxi Sanchez, who will advance directly to the round of 16.
"Sadly, Miguel's knee problems prevent us from enjoying the tournament in Argentina. The most important thing is that he recovers 100%, to get back on the field as soon as possible," his partner announced on social media.
The degree of the injury has not yet been confirmed, so the evolution of the illness will determine whether the Spanish pair will be able to participate in the next tournaments of the South American tour in Paraguay and Chile.
