It was Argentina against Argentina in the final of the Premier Padel tournament in Qatar. Fernando Belasteguin/Sanyo Gutierrez faced compatriots Martin Di Nenno/Franco Stupaczuk.
But Stupa/Di Nenno came out on top with a 6-2, 7-6 win.

Argentina won the football World Cup in Qatar. Now Argentina has also won a Premier Padel tournament in Qatar. This in the form of Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno.

In the post-match victory interviews, the winning pair talked more about how they experienced the match:

— It was a difficult match. We were uncomfortable and pushed back in the second set, making winning points difficult. It means a lot to me to go to a final again with Franco and win it. Hopefully, a good season is waiting for us, said Martin Di Nenno.

Franco Stupaczuk filled in:

— I am very happy and satisfied. This has been one of my goals to win with Martin. And I want to thank Martin, it was a tough match. And I'm proud to play with you. I also want to thank my girlfriend and family for the support I always get.

The second set was a thriller.

The highlight of the match was the second set. Bela/Sanyo had their act together and was up for a dance after the first set, where they lost quickly 2-6.

Stupa/Di Nenno started to look nervous and could not use their speed and quickness. Veterans Bela/Sanyo used their experience and went to a 4-3 lead when it was close to breaking serve. Instead, Stupa/DI Nenno returned and took the lead 5-4. Then when everyone thinks the pair will decide the last game, Bela/Sanyo returns and sets up a tie-break.

During the tiebreak, Bela/Sanyo get off to a nightmare start with simple errors, and it feels like the pair gave up.. 1-4 in the back immediately. But slowly but surely, they pick up the points and turn lead to 5-4 in the tiebreak. Then there is another turnaround from Stupa/Di Nenno, who turn it around and finally win 7-5 in the tiebreak.

The first set was nothing to write in the history books. Stupa/Di Nenno got a great start, made a break immediately, and could quickly and quietly win the set 6-2.

Next is the WPT tournament in La Rioja next weekend to continue the South American tour, with stops in Chile and Paraguay with the World Padel Tour.
