Sanchez and Josemaria take Abu Dhabi by storm

Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria reached the final of the first tournament of the year after beating Icardo and Riera in two sets, and tomorrow they will face the world number ones.

The world number two pair started the 2023 season in an impressive way. Sanchez and Josemaria reached the final of the WPT Abu Dhabi Master without dropping a set in the entire tournament.

The Spanish couple won without problems in the semifinals against one of the new duos of the circuit, Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo, who had shown a great solidity during the tournament.

Ariana and Paula were the protagonists of the semifinal from the first minute, and with a consistent and effective game, they took the match by 6/2 6/1. 

"We couldn't imagine a better start. We are very happy to reach the final in the first master of the season," said Paula after the semi-final.

Sanchez and Josemaria will face world number ones, Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar, in Sunday's final.
