Success for the 17-year-old — to the Main Round in Chile
Four straight wins, and then the enormous talents David Gala, 17, and his 19-year-old partner Daniel Santigosa had achieved their biggest padel success. From the qualifying in Madrid into the WPT Chile Open main round.
In the second WPT qualifier of the year, two top Spanish talents performed well. Teenagers David Gala (ranked 120) and Daniel Santigosa (109) from Madrid are through to the WPT Chile Open main round.
"We enter the main tournament after a great match against Tino Libaak and Leo Augsburger. You are very good. David Gala, I told you I love you. Very happy after this competition after all the work done," Daniel Santigosa writes on Instagram.
In today's qualifying final, they faced two other talents, Argentines Valentino Libaak and Leo Augsburger, who had already advanced from a round in the Buenos Aires WPT tournament last year.
Knocked out the former star
It was a match that went relatively easily for the Spaniards, who won 6-3 in the first, then broke through to 4-3 in the second and were able to win the match 6-3, 6-4.
Before that, ex-star Martin Pineiro and his partner Pablo Garcia had been defeated in an absolute thriller, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6. Before that, they took two easy wins, 6-3, 6-3, against Victor Tur/Belar Vela in the first round and then 7-5, 6-1 against Diego Gil/Boris Castro in round two.
The main tournament will be played March 13 - 19 but has not been drawn yet.
