Alejandra Salazar: "We have WPT approval to play Premier Padel"
On Capital Radio's "Esto es Padel" programme, world number one Alejandra Salzar confirmed that the World Padel Tour has given the girls the go-ahead to participate in Premier Padel.
Alejandra Salzar confirmed last night that the absence of the girls on the Premier Padel circuit would come to an end in 2023.
The world number one announced in “Esto Es Padel”, that this season the girls will be able to be present in the new circuit.
— It would be great to be in Qatar, Roland Garros or the Foro Italico, but we are still without news in that regard. Although everything points to the fact that this year we will be able to play Premier, said Alejandra.
"We have approval from the World Padel Tour"
The girls had decided to wait to participate in the circuit created by QSI and FIP, due to the contracts signed with World Padel Tour.
According to Salazar, WPT has already given permission for the girls to participate in the first tournament of 2023, the PP Qatar Major.
— Participating in Doha depends on Premier right now, because we have approval from the World Padel Tour to play. We're waiting to see if there's enough time for the tournament to be played in women's category.
The Premier Padel tournament in Doha will be played from February 26th, so the deadlines for the organisation of a women's tournament are very tight.
— We are still waiting for an answer. I don't know the deadline, and it's uncomfortable not knowing if we have to take the flight or not, so the sooner they tell us the better. But having the approval of World Padel Tour we are very calm.
