Premier Padel: ”Have agreed to enter talks with WPT”

Premier Padel and their founder, Qatar Sports Investments, go out in a press release and confirm that they are in talks about a possible collaboration with the owner of the World Padel Tour.

Premier Padel and the World Padel Tour have been enemies since the newly launched Premier Padel tour was launched, backed by the International Padel Federation (FIP) early last year.

Talks have now begun between Damm, owner of Setpoint Events and organizer of the WPT, and Qatar Sports Investments, which owns Premier Padel.

”Under the governance of the International Padel Federation, padel is widely regarded as the fastest growing sport in the world — notwithstanding the enormously competitive sports landscape. In light of the common missions of Premier Padel, FIP, and PPA to develop the sport to the next level globally, the parties have agreed to enter talks with Damm to explore the possible collaborations and outcomes”, states the press release.

It is not yet clear what the talks are about. The game schedule and a common ranking system were two big issues in the past.

It is the first time the parties negotiate with each other after a year of conflicts at the international padel scene.  The World Padel Tour has also issued a press release.
