Talavan's new partner without a WPT contract: ”Don't know if I will be able to play with her”

ANNONS

Marta Talavan recently announced her reunion with Lorena Rufo. Talavan tells in an interview with Spanish Marca that Rufo is out of contract with the World Padel Tour.
— I don't know if I will be able to play with her or not, she says.

Marta Talavan finished the 2022 season with Tamara Icardo, but for the start of the 2023 season, she is back with Spanish talent Lorena Rufo who she broke up with in September 2021.

In an interview with Spanish Marca, she now says she has a contract with the World Padel Tour for next year. But Rufo does not.

— I have a contract with WPT, and I'm going to play, that's for sure, but many don't have a contract and haven't signed the new proposal... so they don't know if they will be able to play.

She continues:

— My partner, for example, does not have a contract with World Padel Tour, and I don't know if I will be able to play with her, Talavan says.

In the Board

The player herself is on the board of the IPPA, the women's players' association, which so far has kept a calmer profile in the conflict between the World Padel Tour and FIP/Premier Padel than the men's equivalent.

— We have been more cautious, yes, we look at everything in much more detail because we want to be sure of what we sign and where we are going, but the guys with their decisions have indeed conditioned us. What if Premier Padel does not give us the best conditions? Are we going to divide the padel? It is complicated.

— I am looking forward to all this to end. It is hard. Right now, we don't know what's going to happen.

What decision will be taken from the IPPA is yet to be decided, claims the 20-ranked Spaniard.

— We are pretty united, all opinions are taken into account, and we try to go all together looking for the best for the collective. We are calm because we have handled this issue very well.
