Record attendance at the WPT Master Final — here's the new record

12 141 spectators. That's the largest crowd the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona seen during this weekend's World Padel Tour Master Final. That's a new record for a padel tournament.

The previous attendance record for a single tournament was Premier Padel's P1 tournament in Mendoza, Argentina, where 11,500 spectators turned up earlier this year.

Now we have a new historical figure to build on. 12,141 people made their way to the Palau Sant Jordi for Saturday's semi-finals. Worth mentioning is that the figure was featured on the cover of Spain's biggest sports newspaper, Marca, on the same day as the World Cup final was played on Sunday.

Records of the year

The year of 2022 will be the year of padel attendance records, with (at least) three tournaments with more than 30,000 spectators in total.

  1. World Padel Tour, Master Final (Spain): 12 141 in one day.
  2. Premier Padel Mendoza P1 (Argentina): 11 500 in one day.
  3. World Padel Tour Madrid Master (Spain): 8500 in one day.
  4. Premier Padel Italy Major (Italy): 6700 in one day.
