They won an epic match to reach the final of the Master Final
In the semifinals of the WPT Master Final, the world number ones, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria got the better of Virginia Riera and Patty Llaguno, in a match that was suspenseful until the end.
The first semifinal of the World Padel Tour Master final was a real rollercoaster of emotions, where both pairings fought until the end to win.
The match had a hard start for the number one pairing, who began down on the scoreboard. An imprecise Paula Josemaria accumulated too many unforced errors, which allowed Llaguno and Riera to take the first set.
Paula Josemaria was uncomfortable on the court, and at the break before the second set, the left-hander had to be treated for discomfort in her left wrist.
Although the number ones reacted to level the score at one and take the match to the third set, Josemaria's doubts and mistakes once again weighed down the pairing. Llaguno and Riera continued with their solid game, getting two breaks to take the lead 3/0.
But once again, the number ones showed their character. With tenacity and effort, they managed to take the third set to a tiebreak, where they finally won.
The final score was 4/6 6/2 7/6, after more than 3 hours of play, for Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez to book their place on Sunday's final.
