Preview of the WPT Master Final: Female — team 4 and 3

ANNONS

The biggest and most prestigious event of the year on the World Padel Tour begins on Thursday. The top 16 individually ranked players from the year will battle it out to determine the season's champions in the Master Final.

In a series of articles, Padel Alto lists and comments on the eight teams that have qualified for the Master Final on both the men's and women's sides.

Today we go through our choices for teams 4 and 3 on the women's side.

4. Veronica Virseda & Barbara Las Heras

World ranking: 14
Race of 2022: 11, 12
Coach: Angel Gonzalez

Padel Alto´s comment: Veronica Virseda and Barbara Las Heras are the big positive surprises of the year on the women's side. Before the season, few people thought the pair would be able to qualify among the top 16 and finish the season in a Master Final.

We know that this is one of the couples who train the hardest and put in the extreme time to improve their padel. And it has paid off.

The efforts and results have been mixed. But that's no wonder when this is the first year the pair has delivered at this high level.

At Padel Alto we rate the couple highly, and the duo could be an uncomfortable opponent for everyone in the Master Final. This summer, the pair played in the final of the Marbella Masters and have reached four semi-finals this season. In addition, they have also won a Challenger final.

The last time the pair were in the semi-finals was in Santander in October.

3. Bea Gonzalez & Marta Ortega

World ranking: 5,
Race of 2022: 5
Coach: Maxi Grabiel

Padel Alto´s comment: Bea Gonzalez and Marta Ortega have taken strides with the admittedly talented coach and former great player Maxi Grabiel. They are clear number three, but still have some way to go to the two dominant pairs on the women's side.

The pair have announced that they will continue their project in 2023. They will reportedly aim to catch up with Ari Sanchez/Paula Josemaria and Gemma Triay/Alejandra Salazar by that time.

The pair have been to four semi-finals in a row, before which they stood as winners of the Amsterdam Open in October. In addition, they also won the Danish Padel Open in May. Otherwise, the pair have lined up for semi-finals and had a tough time against Josemaria/Sanchez and Triay/Salazar. We at Padel Alto think it won't be easy this time.
