Sanyo on the couple's drop: ”The inexperience took its toll on him"

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper AS, the Argentinean star Sanyo Gutierrez took stock of the 2022 season. He talked about his year with Agustin Tapia, the new pairs for next season, and his reunion with Bela.
— Even if they say that sequels are no good, for me, they are, says Sanyo.

In 2022, Sanyo Gutierrez and Agustin Tapia were the only pair that managed to put Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron in check in the first half of the season.

The pair had a terrific start to the year, but after the summer break, nothing was the same. The Argentines were more disconnected on the court, and their performance dropped significantly.

— Agustín is a great player and has extraordinary talent, but in the end, the inexperience of a young 23-year-old, who decides to change his partner for the next season, took its toll on him. He struggled to give the information to his partner, and the pair felt it on the court, Sanyo says to AS.

“We are ready to be at the top.”

After an irregular year with Tapia, Sanyo is focused on the next season. The San Luis player will again have Fernando Belasteguin as his partner. 

The pair will be reunited in what will be their second sporting project together.

— Maybe we don't jump and hit as much as some of the younger players, but neither of us has been physically overmatched. We may not be number one, but we are ready to be at the top.

The new partnerships for 2023

Many new couples are formed for the new season, with the clear intention of snatching the number one: Galan and Lebron. One of them is formed by Paquito Navarro and Juan Tello. 

The Spaniard moved to the right side of the court to play alongside the "Gato."

— I don't think Paquito Navarro will be the great hitter he was on the left. With Tello, they're going to be very competitive, but we'll see a different Navarro, said Sanyo.

Another new pairing that promises a lot is Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno. The “Superpibes” reunite after the first stage, where they were a sensation couple.

For Sanyo, knowing each other from a very young age makes them one of the couples to watch out for in 2023.

— It's a pair with enormous potential. They've known each other for years, played together as kids, and now they can become dominant.
