World Padel Tour on PPA's accusations: ”It is a bunch of falsehoods”

ANNONS

Following the publication issued by the PPA on the "exclusion" of players without contracts by the WPT, the circuit has released an official response to the players' association.
— We demand that the Board of Directors of the Players' Association publicly retract it, the announcement says.

After the players' association accused (through an official statement) the WPT of excluding, and consequently expelling, from its competition the players who currently do not have a contract in force for 2023, the circuit has responded.

In an announcement published on its website and social media, World Padel Tour charges the PPA with issuing a "bunch of falsehoods" in its statements, even urging the association to take back the statement.

”A fact as regrettable as this, which falls more within the scope of the crime of slander directed towards WPT, with the single intention of causing damage to the image and reputation of our Circuit, requires that we demand the Board of Directors of the Players' Association, signatories of this statement, to retract it,” says the WPT statement.

PPA: Pressured to sign

It should be recalled that the circuit's deadline for signing the new offer presented to the players in October 2022 was 27 November.

The offer was submitted individually, so the PPA dismissed it, urging the circuit to submit a collective offer.

According to PPA, many players without signed contracts are pressured by WPT to sign the new offer, with the consequent exclusion from the circuit if they do not fulfill the demands.

Although players without contracts have been able to take part in previous seasons, World Padel Tour states that on the 18th of November, they would have sent a circular to all players, informing them of "the obligation to have a contract in force or to be a member to participate in the WPT Circuit in 2023".

Finally, World Padel Tour accuses the PPA of wanting to bring players closer to Premier Padel through "a maneuver of justification for the lack of transparency and communication towards its associates," belittling and discrediting the WPT offer. It also accuses the association of working together with the FIP and QSI circuit but "without publicly communicating to its members, fans or the media the relationship that unites it with the circuit or the conditions it offers".
