Successful pair ready for final — defeated Tello/Paquito in Milan
Victor Ruiz/Lucas Bergamini have knocked out another experienced pair in the Premier Padel tournament in Milan. This time they beat Paquito Navarro and Juan Tello 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.
What a successful tournament they have had. The Spanish/Brazilian pair Victor Ruiz (35) / Lucas Bergamini (34). Earlier, they knocked out Lima/Stupa in two straight sets. Then they followed it up with a win in two straight sets against Capro/Sanchez.
And a little while ago, we can add Paquito Navarro and Juan Tello to the line of players who failed to beat Ruiz/Bergamini in Milan's Premier Padel tournament.
— Thanks for the support Milan. This is emotional stuff. We have never played at such a high level before, says Victor Ruiz in the post-match victory interview.
His partner Lucas Bergamin filled in:
— This is my first final. We were nervous when we entered the court and saw so many people in the stands. There are so many people. I can't find the words," said a visibly moved Lucas Bergamini in the victory interview.
But it took a tough threesome to pull it off. The most memorable set was the first, with a fierce battle for points.
Ruiz/Bergamin ran away to a quick 2-0 lead in the game.
In the second game, Ruiz managed a beautiful screw stop ball that was impossible to reach to the crowd's cheers. The clip can be seen at the bottom of the article here.
Navarro/Tello made up the deficit, an even war for every point. In the end, Ruiz/Bergamin won 7-5.
Now the final awaits.
The pairs then each had a set where they won by fairly clear numbers in each set.
The winners of the second semi-final of Lebron/Galan and Coello/Bela await Ruiz/Bergamin as their opponents in the final.
