The shock in Mexico: Sunday's champions eliminated
A big surprise occurred during Friday's Premier Padel Mexico Major play. Paquito Navarro and Juan Tello won the Mexico Open last Sunday but are now eliminated.
The match against Lucas Bergamini and Victor Ruiz was close. It featured many unforced errors by Paquito Navarro and Juan Tello, who looked unimpressed after the pair's first title until last Sunday.
At the same time, Ruiz and Bergamini's play deserves praise. The scores were 4-6, 6-3, and 3-6, and in the last set, Paquito Navarro lost his temper several times when the ball did not bounce off the glass.
"Mexico's Major is over for us. Congratulations to Victor and Lucas for the fantastic game you played. We keep working and will be back for the tournament in Milan next week", Juan Tello writes on Instagram.
There have been problems with humidity and rain in the past, and several matches have had to be canceled.
The champions of the WPT Mexico Open didn't make the best debut on Wednesday either. The pair struggled to get through their match against Javier Valdes and Arnau Ayats, even saving three match points against them.
For the quarter-finals, Bergamini and Ruiz will face the number five-seeded pair of the tournament, Coki Nieto and Martin Di Nenno.
