Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar won the final of the World Padel Tour Mexico Open against Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez, to claim their fourth consecutive title and become the first women's champions of Mexico.

In the most repeated final - in the same season - in the history of the World Padel Tour, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria faced Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar for the 13th time.

Both pairings arrived at the final in Mexico with their sights set on the Barcelona Master Final, thinking about the fight for the top of the world ranking.

Gemma and Ale came into the match extremely focused, and showing an aggressive play, they broke their opponents' serve twice to take a 6/3 lead. At the start of the second set Sanchez and Josemaria managed to level the match, but the number two pair reacted strongly again, taking the match to a tiebreak. There, Gemma's powerful play at the net was the key for Triay and Salazar to take the match 6/3, 7/6, after an hour and forty-five minutes of game.

“We had no margin for error, and we have done very well in the last few weeks. It was very complicated, if we had lost today it would have been difficult to fight for the one, but it will be fun to define the top of the ranking in the Master Final in Barcelona.” Gemma said after the match.

With the points got with the title of the Mexico Open, Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar shortened to less than 200 points the difference with Josemaria and Sanchez, so the couple that gets the best result in the Barcelona Master Final will finish the year as number one in the world.
