Young talent springs the first bombshell in Mexico
Young Spaniards Noa Canovas and Marina Guinart pulled off the first surprise of the WPT Mexico Open, after eliminating fifth seeds Aranza Osoro and Victoria Iglesias in three sets.
On Tuesday, in the first round of the WPT Mexico Open, the first surprise of the tournament came from young talent Noa Canovas and her partner Marina Guinart. The pair surprised the world number five couple, Aranza Osoro and Victoria Iglesias, in the last 32, knocking them out of the tournament.
In a tough three-set match, the 26th pair of the tournament managed to win against Osoro and Iglesias, who found no answers to the game of the young Spaniards, who ended up winning by 6/4 2/6 6/3.
Canovas (18) is one of the most promising talents in world padel, and together with Guinart they have established themselves in the main draw this season, alternating between the round of 16 and the round of 32.
