Alex Ruiz on his illness: ”It's something that has made me better”

Alex Ruiz is a professional athlete, but he is also a diabetic. On World Diabetes Day, the player from Malaga - who has suffered from the disease from a young age - gives a message of optimism and resilience.

Alex Ruiz is one of the most renowned padel players on the professional circuit. Along with his partner Momo Gonzalez, he is ranked number 7 in the world ranking and was part of the Spanish team that finished runner-up in the world championship. 

But besides being an elite athlete, Alex suffers from a hereditary disease that affects many people worldwide. Alex started competing at the age of ten, at which age he found out he had type 1 diabet
