ITF proposal rejected — FIP: ”A victory”

The International Tennis Federation, ITF, voted yesterday to try to become the governing body of padel. The result was no, which made the FIP cheer. 
"A victory," they write in a statement. 

On Monday, the ITF held a meeting of its shareholders and members in Glasgow. On the agenda was, among other things, to review the possibility of being the global governing body of padel and other racket sports.

This prompted the International Padel Federation and the Men's Players' Association to act and criticize the ITF.

Late Monday night, the ITF said that the proposal was voted down. 

“While the majority of national tennis associations today voted for this, it was below the 2/3rds threshold that ITF governance rules require”, the official statement says.
