WPT player retires only 27 years old: ”Not enjoying”
Iñigo Zaratiegui quits his professional career in padel. The 27-year-old announced the decision himself via his social media channels.
The announcement from Iñigo Zaratiegui is not unexpected, as the player has not played a tournament since June. The backhander last paired with José Rico ranked 32 in the world.
”After a few months away from the courts, I have been able to reflect”, writes Zaratiegui.
”It has been some time without enjoying the competition, and I think I should stop and start a new stage at a professional and personal level.”
The player is currently ranked 72nd in the World Padel Tour rankings but has earlier been top 40 in the world. Now he is opening up to work in the sport but in a different way.
”I have decided to embark on a new adventure in this sport, but from another perspective,” writes Zaratiegui
