Drama as three teams finished the group with the same points — they got knocked out

ANNONS

France, Brazil, and Sweden all finished with the same points in Women's Group D in the World Cup. After much drama, France and Brazil won the two tickets to Thursday's quarter-finals.

There was great drama in the final round of Group D as Sweden faced Brazil. Brazil won the match 2-1, leaving both nations on equal points with France.

When the dust settled, it appeared that France had won the group, as the rules state that the set scores count first through the group stage.

But secondly, the meetings between the two countries count; therefore, Brazil goes through after beating Sweden.

The exit from the World Cup for Sweden, reinforced by world star Carolina Navarro, is a disappointment as they were, together with France, the favorites to advance from the group. Especially after the team's great start with the win against France in the opening match in Dubai.
