World Cup´s biggest surprise strikes again — knocked out France
Belgium is the biggest surprise of the World Cup. On the men's side, they beat Italy in the group - and on the women's side, they are now in the semi-finals after surprisingly beating France in the quarter-finals.
Belgium is making great steps in padel right now. Yesterday, the men advanced to their first World Cup quarter-final after knocking out Italy in the group.
Now comes the next surprise: the Belgian ladies are through to the semi-finals after knocking out big nation France in the quarter-finals.
The match ended 2-1, and in the deciding match, Elyne Boeykens and Dorien Cuypers won in three sets against the French Amelie Detriviere and Melissa Martin, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
Before that, Helena Wyckaert and An-Sophie Mestach had won their match impressively against WPT stars Alix Collombon and Charlotte Sobrie. Tomorrow they face the impossible task of taking on clear favorites Spain in the semi-finals. In the second semi-final, Argentina takes on Italy.
The Belgian men also play their quarter-final against France. That match is not yet decided.
