They are the champions of Menorca – back to winning ways for the number ones

ANNONS

Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan returned to victory after a three tournament drought. In the final of the WPT Menorca Open, they defeated Gil and Moyano by 6/4 4/6 and 6/2, in a top level match.

In an unprecedented final, the pairing of Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan faced off in Menorca against the 18th ranked couple, and the surprise of the tournament, Ramiro Moyano and Francisco Gil (who were playing the first final of his career).

Despite the difference in ranking, the game was extremely even. A break at the start of the match saw the number ones take the first set 6/4. In the second set, Moyano and Gil kept their solid game and managed to break their opponents to tie the score at one. In the final set, Lebron and Galan brought out all their quality of play, and ended up taking the match by 6/4 4/6 and 6/2, after two hours and fifteen minutes of play.

"They came with a lot of confidence. It was their first final, and they played at an incredible level, but if something characterises us as a team is that we never gave up and never stopped believing," said Ale Galan after the final.

After a run of three tournaments without victory, Lebron and Galan are back to winning ways to claim their 20th WPT title as a couple.

Next week, the action will return, but on the Premier Padel circuit, with the New Giza P1 in Egypt.
