WPT Menorca Open has its first finalists
In Menorca, the semifinals of the morning session were played, and we already know the first two couples that will seek the title of champions. In the women's draw, the world number ones left no doubts, while in the men's draw, there will be an unprecedented final.
In the first semi-final of the day, world number ones, Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez, faced the newly formed pairing of Lucia Sainz and Tamara Icardo.
Josemaria and Sanchez showed their difference in ranking, and dominated the match from start to finish, without letting their opponents react at any time. The match was defined by a resounding 6/0 6/1, in just one hour of play.
Tomorrow, Ariana and Paula will play their seventh consecutive final. Their opponents will come from the match between Triay/Salazar and Ortega/Gonzalez at 16:00h.
In the men's draw, two couples that have been the surprises of the tournament faced each other. On one side the debutant pairing of Sanz/Campagnolo, who came in after eliminating Lima/Stupaczuk in the quarterfinals, and on the other Moyano/Gil who had done the same against the world number two pair, Tapia and Gutierrez.
"Campa" and Sanz tried to manage the game from the start, but they were taken by storm. Moyano and Gil came out on court full of confidence, and swept their opponents aside 6/2 6/1, to reach the first finals for the pair - and the first finals of Gil's career.
On Sunday final, they will face the winner of the match between Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron against Fernando Belasteguin and Arturo Coello.
