No exclusivity deals and more prize money — here's the ”new” World Padel Tour

Today the World Padel Tour board held a meeting with the players in Menorca. During the meeting, the organization presented the changes that will take place at the tour for 2023. All the players' Padel Alto has been in contact with boycotted the meeting. 

Spanish Marca was the first to report on what was presented by the board during the meeting. 

Padel Alto has been in contact with many players during the day who have chosen not to participate in the meeting, as at least the men's player's association, PPA advised their players not to participate. This is because the players have taken the side of the International Padel Federation (FIP) and the competing tour, Premier Padel, in the conflict with the WPT. 

According to the site, the names of the tournaments will be changed to the next season. 

Men´s

  • Master Final becomes World Masters Final
  • Master - BIG
  • Open - Open 300
  • Challenger - Open 100

Women´s

  • Master Final becomes World Masters Final
  • Master - BIG
  • Open - Open 150
  • Challenger - Open 60

Withdraws the lawsuit — for the players who accept the proposal

Exclusivity will not exist in the new World Padel Tour. The circuit will ask for a commitment from its participants. What this means in more concrete terms is currently unclear. 

As for the legal situation, regarding the lawsuits filed against players who have played Premier Padel events, World Padel Tour will withdraw the lawsuits against the players who accept the new proposal. 

There will also be new prize money in the new tour. These number is (in total): 

Prize Money in World Master Final: 500,000 euros

Prize Money in BIG: 600,000 euros (men´s) and 300.000 (women´s)

Prize Money in Open 300: 300,000 euros (only men)

Prize Money in Open 150: 150,000 euros (only women´s)

Prize Money in Open 100: 100,000 euros (only men´s)

Prize Money in Open 60: 60,000 euros (only women´s)

In addition, World Padel Tour will offer a ranking bonus for those players who accept the proposal for 2023. The requirements will be: finish in the top 30 and play a minimum of 15 tournaments to collect the bonus. 

The total prize money for the bonus will be 500,000 euros.

This is the case of the considerable increase in the amount of the prizes, the disappearance of the exclusivity clause in the contract, or the implementation of Foxtenn, an infallible VAR that is already present in tennis”, writes World Padel Tour in an official statement.
