They obtained the FIP Platinum of Mexico
Gonzalo Rubio and Alex Arroyo were crowned champions of the FIP Platinum held in Mexico, after beating Ivan Ramirez and Raul Marcos in three sets by 6/0 6/7 and 7/5.
Spaniards Gonzalo Rubio and Alex Arroyo, number two ranked couple of the tournament, were crowned champions of the FIP Platinum held this past weekend in Mexico City. The couple reached the finals without dropping a single set, winning with authority against great rivals like Juan Martin Diaz and Ignacio Vilariño.
In the final match, they faced Ramirez/Marcos - the fourth seeded couple - and although Rubio and Arroyo easily won the first set, Ramirez and Marcos managed to balance the actions to define the match in a very tight third set. The final score was 6/0 6/7 and 7/5 in favour of Rubio and Arroyo, thus becoming champions of the tournament.
The FIP Platinum is the highest ranking tournament on the FIP tour. It distributes 60000 euros in prize money and awards 200 points to the winning pair.
