Kings of Europe - they are the first european youth champions
The Spanish junior national team was proclaimed champion of the first European junior tournament, after winning both the men's and women's finals with a resounding victory.
On Saturday, the finals of the first edition of the Juniors European Championship took place in Valencia. There, the Spanish teams - in both the men's and women's categories - showed that their level is still above the rest of the continent, after winning both finals with great authority.
Women's Final
During the morning session, the girls defeated Sweden in all three categories without dropping a single set. In the U14 and U16 categories, the Spanish were overwhelming, and beat their rivals in both matches by an impressive 6/0 6/0. In the U18 category, the Swedish girls managed to put pressure on Spain in the first set, but in the second set, Spain - With Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco in the court - showed their quality, taking the victory by 7/5 and 6/1.
Men’s Finals
In the men's final, the young Spaniards showed their power on the court, giving no chance to Portugal, who after the great victory in the semis against Italy had come to the final with expectations. All three categories won their matches without a hitch: 6/0 6/2 in U14, 6/1 6/2 in U16 and 6/1 6/1 in U18.
The Spanish national team thus became the first-ever European junior padel champions, taking the trophy on home soil.
