Ovide to Padel Alto: ”Paco can play wherever he wants”

Paquito Navarro has made the decision to move to the Drive position as a result of his partnership with Juan Tello. But how will it go? Now his coach speaks out to Padel Alto.
— Paco can play wherever he wants, Rodri Ovide says.

After the publication of the list for the next Egypt Premier Padel, the formation of a new couple was fully confirmed: Paquito Navarro and Juan Tello. Many were shocked by the decision to join forces as both players are extremely associated with the backhand side. Here the question arose: who would occupy the right side of the court?

The answer is Paquito Navarro.

The Sevillian will switch to the drive to fulfill a new function on the court, one that he is not so used to doing. Faced with the unknown of how Navarro will perform in his new duty, Padel Alto consulted with his current coach, Rodri Ovide, on how he sees Navarro on the side of the drive.

”Great smash game.”

— Paquito is like that. He can come out with these things because he can play on any side of the court. I think it will be difficult for him at the beginning because he will have to defend and close the net, and it will take him some time to adapt.

However, Rodri Ovide believes that having a player with Navarro's power and finishing ability on the right side could be a great advantage.

— I do not doubt that once he has practiced this, he can be a right-side player with the advantage of having a great smash game.

Paquito Navarro now plays backhand with Mike Yanguas in two events until the WPT event in Buenos Aires when Federico Chingotto and Juan Tello break with each other. Yanguas will then play with Miguel Lamperti for the rest of the season. Something that Padel Alto revealed on Thursday.
