These are the European qualifiers for the World Cup
This weekend ended in Derby, the European qualification phase for the World Cup. Three teams in the men's category and two in the women's category got the ticket to the World Cup.
The European qualification phase for the Dubai 2022 World Cup ended this weekend at the We Are Padel facilities in Derby, and the national teams that won a place in the competition are already known.
In the men's draw, two of the favourites, Portugal and Sweden, faced each other in the group stage, where the Portuguese team won 3-0, leaving the Scandinavians out of the qualification. In the semi-finals, the Portuguese team beat Great Britain 2-0, and the Netherlands beat Germany by the same score, with both national teams qualifying.
In the battle for the last place, the two losing teams, Germany and Great Britain, faced each other, with the British qualifying by a tight 2-1 score in the third set of the last game.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, the two favourite teams, Portugal and Sweden, managed to win the two places at the World Cup. Sweden defeated Great Britain 2-0, while Portugal won convincingly against Finland.
The qualified national teams are now ready for their debut at the next World Cup, which starts on the 31st of this month in Dubai.
