Breaking Josemaria and Sanchez winning streak — champions in Amsterdam

ANNONS

Marta Ortega and Bea Gonzalez win the Amsterdam Open, breaking new world number ones Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria's winning streak of four straight tournament victories.

The third-ranked pair had a brilliant week in Amsterdam, capped by a very good performance in the final against Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria.

In a changing match, Ortega and Gonzalez managed to impose themselves in the third set, displaying an impressive game on court. The number ones found no answers to the game proposed by Bea and Marta, who got revenge for the final lost in Cascais, when Gonzalez had to retire due to injury.

"We must cherish this title, because it is extremely difficult to beat the world's number ones. We are thrilled, because we had a lot of ups and downs during the match, and despite not showing our best version in the second set, we could recover and play an impressive third set." Said Marta Ortega after the match.

The final score was 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. It means Marta Ortega and Bea Gonzalez take their first title since the Danish Padel Open in May and their second title of the season.

Thus, Bea and Marta broke an impressive 21-match unbeaten streak of the number ones, during which they claimed four consecutive titles.
