New names in Argentina´s national team — here are the squads for the World Cup
The Argentinian padel association (APA) has confirmed the list of players called up for the next world championship in Dubai. While the men's list remains the same, there are two fresh additions to the women's list.
One of the two favorites to win the World Cup, Argentina, has confirmed its list of players called up for the World Cup in Dubai, starting on 31 October.
The new national coaches, Gaby Reca and Rodri Ovide kept repeating the men's squad from the last World Padel Championship. This means that five of the players usually play on the backhand side while Lucho Capra is rejected from the team.
The women's squad has been modified compared to last year. The two new additions to the list are the experienced Daniela Banchero (12th in the APT ranking) and the young talented Daiara Valenzuela (number one in the Argentine U18 ranking), both left-side players.
For the men's category, the eight players selected are:
- Agustin Tapia
- Sanyo Gutierrez
- Martin Di Nenno
- Fernando Belasteguin
- Franco Stupaczuk
- Federico Chingotto
- Juan Tello
- Maxi Sanchez
For the women's category, the eight players are:
- Virginia Riera
- Aranza Osoro
- Delfi Brea
- Claudia Jensen
- Ceci Reiter
- Julieta Bidahorria
- Daiara Valenzuela
- Daniela Banchero
With this team, Argentina will try to win the World Cup title this year that escaped them in the previous World Cup, when they lost the finals of both categories against Spain, finishing as runners-up.
