The two favorites in the same group — here's the World Cup qualifying draw
Portugal and Sweden were big favorites to advance to the World Padel Championship in the United Arab Emirates on both the men's and women's sides. After the draw, this now becomes an impossibility as the two nations were drawn in the same group on the men's side.
Now the European qualifying groups for the World Padel Championship are drawn. A total of 18 nations on the men's side will compete for three places, and 13 nations on the women's side for two places in the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates later this year.
The qualifiers will be played this weekend in Derby, England. Worth noting from the draw is that the two big favorites to advance on the men's side: Portugal and Sweden, ended up in the same group where only one nation has a chance of advancing. Only one team from the group advances.
On the women's side, Portugal is the big favorite to grab one of the two places at the World Cup. Sweden is another.
The European qualifiers for the World Padel Championships will be hosted at We Are Padel (WAP) Derby, the largest padel venue in Great Britain, featuring 11 courts.
