Coello smashed home the Master title: ”Will remember this forever”

ANNONS

The super talent and the boss. The youthful energy mixed with the most incredible experience. The smash game combined with brilliant tactics. It was all there when Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguin crowned their Madrid Masters title after winning the final in two straight sets.
— Playing with Fernando is a dream, said Arturo Coello after the second WPT title of his career.

Everything fell into place for super talent Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguin during Sunday's final against Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz, winning the final 6-4, 6-1.

When Coello has a good day offensively with his smashing game in the fast-paced conditions in Madrid and when Bela's tactical brilliance is in place, the pair are hard to beat.

It is the pair's second title of the year and the first since the first competition of the year was played in Miami in February. In addition, they have been in the finals on Coello's home turf in the World Padel Tour competition in Valladolid and Fernando Belasteguin's home country of Argentina during Premier Padel in Mendoza.

After the match, two players were caught up in the moment.

— Playing with Fernando is a dream, I have always admired him, and today we have to applaud him because while many rested or took holidays, he has continued training, doing a mini pre-season in summer. He deserves this title and all those to come because he is still one of the best in the world, said Arturo Coello after his second title in his career.

He continued:

— It has been one of the most special tournaments of my life, and I will remember it forever.

228th title for Bela

For Fernando Belasteguin, it's been more and more titles. This was his 228th title. A record that will, of course, be almost impossible to beat.

— It's been a long time since I've played on a Sunday, and it's been a long time since my family in Argentina had to get up early to see me play in a final, and I want to share it with them, he said after the match.

And continued:

— The passing of time is inevitable, and we athletes don't retire. The sport itself retires us. Behind us come many kids who are true animals of competition, Bela said.

It was a more challenging day for losers Alex Ruiz and Momo Gonzalez. Some simple mistakes meant the match was never as exciting as the crowd at the Caja Magica in Madrid had hoped.

Ruiz and Gonzalez have shown a level that they have never been up to together before this week, which was summed up in the semi-final against Lucho Capra and Maxi Sanchez when they put in an incredible performance.
