Madrid has a new crowd favourite: ”One of the best matches of my career”

MOOOMO, MOOOMO, MOOOMO! chanted the crowd in the Caja Magica stands in Madrid. It was understandable after Momo Gonzalez's tremendous effort in the semi-final, which they won 7-6, 6-1. 
— One of the best matches of my career, said Gonzalez after the match. 

Momo Gonzalez has impressed the Madrid crowd all week. But in the semi-final, there was something special to see from the Malaga son. 

Together with Alex Ruiz, they won the semi-final against tough Lucho Capra and Maxi Sanchez, who love these fast-paced conditions in Madrid.

And it was in the first set tiebreak that the pair's breakthrough in the match came. They dominated this and continued on that path in the second set to 6-1, and the crowd chanted Momo´s name all over the stadium. 

— I want to thank the crowd because I feel very much loved here. I have played one of the best matches of my career, and I owe it to my partner who brings out the best in me. 

This is the second time this year that Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz have reached the final of the World Padel Tour. The previous time was at the Marbella Masters this summer. 

First title — possible tomorrow

The final will be against the winner of the second semi-final, played between Fernando Belasteguin/Arturo Coello and Federico Chingotto/Juan Tello. 

— I hope tomorrow I can finish the day in the best possible way and win my first title, said Momo Gonzalez after the match.
