Despite double fault at match point: Bela and Coello to semi-final

ANNONS

Fernando Belasteguin served at 5-3 and 40-30. Then what shouldn't happen happened. Bela made a double fault, and suddenly Galan and Lebron had the opportunity to break. But Bela and Coello won the next match point and took the deciding set 6-3.

Fernando Belasteguin and Arturo Coello are through to the semi-finals of the World Padel Tours Madrid Master. This after winning and knocking out world number ones Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron for the first time all season.

But it wasn't a straight path. At 5-3, Fernando Belasteguin was serving at 40-30, then suddenly made a double fault. Something you rarely see on this level, especially not at such a critical moment.

Fernando Belasteguin looked like he didn't understand what was happening and laughed at the situation. He could do that. In the following Golden Point, which meant both match point or that Lebron and Galan would go up to 4-5 with their serve, Alejandro Galan instead fumbled the return and put it in the net.

Therefore, the third and decisive set ended in victory for Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguin, who performed both offensively and defensively in the fast-paced conditions in Madrid.

The match ended 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan didn't get into the game and couldn't get to their positions comfortably. On several occasions, the pair tried to disrupt the opponents, which was not received well by the crowd, who chanted both Arturo's name and Bela's.

Tomorrow, Belasteguin and Coello will face the winner of the match between Paquito Navarro/Martin Di Nenno and Federico Chingotto/Juan Tello.

In the other semi-final, we see Momo Gonzalez/Alex Ruiz against Lucho Capra/Maxi Sanchez.
